Germany-Romania trade: German exports rise to 11.9 billion euros
German exports to Romania reached 11.9 billion euros in the first half of 2026, representing a 4.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025. During this timeframe, German imports from Romania totaled 9.5 billion euros, a decrease of 2.5% from the previous year.
According to data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), Romania ranks as Germany's 17th largest trading partner for both exports and imports. Sebastian Metz, Director General of AHK Romania, noted that the positive evolution of German exports underscores Romania's significant role in the European economy and its integration into European value chains.
To maintain this trade momentum, experts emphasize the necessity of continued reforms, infrastructure development, and digitalization in Romania, alongside credible and transparent economic policy communication.
