Currency exchange rates show mixed trends in Romania and Moldova

On September 10, 2026, central banks in Romania and Moldova reported varying exchange rate movements for their national currencies against major global benchmarks.

In Romania, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) announced that the leu appreciated against the euro, the US dollar, the Swiss franc, and the British pound. The euro was quoted at 5.2537 lei, while the US dollar stood at 4.5164 lei. Additionally, the price of gold saw a slight decrease, settling at 638.0876 lei per gram.

In Moldova, the National Bank of Moldova reported mixed results for the Moldovan leu. The currency depreciated against the euro, which rose to 20.0487 MDL, but strengthened slightly against the US dollar, which fell to 17.2388 MDL. The Moldovan leu also showed a slight depreciation against the Romanian leu, which was quoted at 3.8152 MDL.
