Current Taxi Tesla reaches 1,000,000 km milestone in Kelowna

A Tesla vehicle operated by Kelowna-based Current Taxi has reached the milestone of 1,000,000 kilometres after nine years of commercial service. The vehicle, which has been driven by 300 different drivers, officially retired from the taxi industry during a celebration at the Tesla Kelowna location.

Founder Dale Conway noted that the vehicle remained safe throughout its service. Since launching in 2017, Current Taxi has operated approximately 45 Tesla vehicles, logging a combined 15 million kilometres with only four battery replacements. While other fleet vehicles were typically retired around 870,000 km, this specific car was maintained to reach the million-kilometre mark.

Conway expressed interest in donating the vehicle to an engineering program, such as those at the University of British Columbia (UBC) or the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), to assist in the study of high-mileage electric vehicles and mechanics.
