Curro Torres appointed head coach of FK Liepāja

FK Liepāja has officially appointed Spanish specialist Curro Torres as the club’s new head coach. Torres succeeds Estonian specialist Vladimir Vasiļjevs, who was dismissed following a 0-1 loss to Auda.

Torres brings significant experience to the Latvian Virsliga, having previously played for the Spanish national team and Valencia. His coaching career includes stints with Spanish clubs such as Recreativo and Tenerife, as well as work with Valencia’s reserve team. He also has regional experience, having managed the Croatian club Istra and the Estonian side Levadia, where he won the Estonian championship, Cup, and Super Cup. In 2024, he was recognized as the best coach in Estonia.

Liepāja is scheduled to face Riga FC in a Virsliga match at the Daugava stadium. Riga FC enters the match following a strong run of form in multiple competitions, including the UEFA Conference League, while Liepāja will be without midfielders Rodolfs Eku and Danila Patijčuks due to disqualifications.
