Currys reports 7% like-for-like sales growth
Currys has reported a 7% increase in group like-for-like sales during the first 17 weeks of its financial year. The retailer attributed the growth to gaining market share across major categories and benefiting from high demand for cooling technology, such as fans and air conditioning, during summer heatwaves.
In the UK and Ireland, like-for-like revenue rose by 6%, supported by growth in both physical stores and online channels. The company’s Nordic operations saw a 9% increase in like-for-like sales, driven largely by white goods and mobile products.
Beyond traditional electricals, Currys is expanding its focus on business-to-business (B2B) sales, recurring services, and new product categories. The iD Mobile network has reached 2.7 million subscribers, representing a 16% year-on-year increase. The company also noted artificial intelligence as a significant growth opportunity, particularly with AI-enabled laptops.
Group Chief Executive Fredrik Tønnesen stated that the company has maintained strong momentum across both stores and online. Currys has kept its full-year guidance unchanged and is currently conducting a £50m share buyback.
