Cursor releases iOS app for AI coding agents after SpaceX acquisition

SpaceX's recent acquisition of the AI‑coding startup Cursor (reported as a $60‑$600 billion deal) was followed by the launch of a native iOS application in public beta. The app lets developers launch cloud‑based coding agents, remotely control agents running on their desktops, and manage tasks from a phone or tablet. Features include voice‑input prompts, slash commands, real‑time push notifications, Live Activities on the lock screen, and tools to review diffs, annotate screenshots, and merge pull requests. The mobile client is positioned as a companion to Cursor’s desktop suite, enabling a workflow where developers supervise autonomous AI agents rather than write code line‑by‑line. Anthropic’s Claude Code lead Boris Cherny highlighted the shift, saying, “Most of my coding now is on my phone.” The release comes weeks after the acquisition announcement in early June, with the app first available via TestFlight and now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
