Solana ecosystem sees ETF growth and memecoin controversy
Solana is experiencing significant activity across its ecosystem, marked by both institutional interest and internal debate. Spot Solana ETFs in the United States have seen seven consecutive weeks of inflows, recently absorbing $10.26 million in a single week. The native token, SOL, has maintained support around the $75 level, while the network has led the industry in real-world asset (RWA) inflows and decentralized exchange volume.
However, the rise of memecoin infrastructure has drawn criticism. Michael Egorov, founder of Curve Finance, described the Solana-based launchpad Pump.fun as “a casino of scams called memecoins,” citing high rates of fraudulent token patterns. Egorov also criticized the Phantom wallet for its hardware-wallet user experience.
In response, industry figures like Claw Pump co-founder Tomi204 defended the ecosystem, arguing that Pump.fun provides neutral infrastructure and that users are responsible for their own choices. Despite the controversy, Pump.fun’s native token, PUMP, has seen significant gains, recently hitting a $1 billion market capitalization and forming a technical “golden cross” on its price chart.
