Cusco authorities evaluate water deficit emergency response

Authorities in Cusco are preparing to evaluate municipal progress as the 60-day state of emergency regarding water deficits nears its end. The National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI) and the Cusco Regional Government will review actions taken by local municipalities to address potential water shortages.

Brigadier General Miguel Reyna Vasalar, director of INDECI Cusco, noted that while local authorities have received recommendations to strengthen preparedness and response, some municipalities have yet to complete required information in the National Information System for Response and Rehabilitation (SINPAD).

As the deadline approaches in 12 days, officials will determine if current measures are sufficient or if technical grounds exist to request an extension of the emergency declaration.
