Cusco hosts Adidas Andes Race to promote sports tourism
The Adidas Andes Race 2026, featuring 'The Chaski Challenge', has commenced in Cusco, Peru. The trail running event aims to promote the region as a premier destination for sports and adventure tourism by utilizing the historic Inca trails and the landscapes of the Sacred Valley.
The competition includes four different distances—13K, 30K, 60K, and 100K—and is expected to host approximately 1,200 national and international runners. Participants will traverse various natural and cultural sites, including Huarán, Lares, Huacawasi, Willoq, and Ollantaytambo.
PROMPERÚ is acting as a strategic ally in the event, which is part of a broader international campaign targeting markets in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador. The initiative seeks to diversify Peru's tourism offerings by integrating sports with nature, history, and cultural heritage.
