Cusco hosts religious pilgrimage and Baroque music festival

Cusco is hosting significant cultural and religious events this September. The Sanctuary of Señor de Huanca attracts thousands of pilgrims from across Peru every September 14. Known as ‘the doctor of the poor,’ the figure represents hope and spiritual renewal for devotees who travel to the sanctuary to fulfill promises or express gratitude.

Simultaneously, the 13th edition of the Latin American Baroque Festival is taking place in Cusco. The festival focuses on the region's historic tube organs, which blend European musical traditions with Inca culture. The program includes concerts in various historic temples, such as the Basílica Catedral and La Compañía, featuring international ensembles from Argentina and Chile. The event also offers academic conferences on art history and musicology led by specialists from Peru, Poland, Chile, and Argentina.
