Cusco innovation projects receive over 1.6 million soles in funding
The Peruvian Ministry of Production, through the ProInnóvate program, has allocated over 1.6 million soles to co-finance 21 innovation and entrepreneurship projects in the Cusco region. These initiatives, spanning the provinces of Cusco, Espinar, La Convención, Urubamba, and Calca, aim to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
The projects focus on strategic sectors including tourism, coffee, cacao, food, and manufacturing. Selected technologies to be implemented include artificial intelligence, virtual reality, blockchain, computer vision, traceability, and circular economy solutions.
Notable examples include Ajha Tech Allpa, which focuses on controlled fermentation for chicha de jora; Purr & Pure, which develops biodegradable cat litter from corn and biochar; and several firms like Machupicchu AI and Rikuy VR that aim to create immersive tourist experiences using AI and virtual reality. Eloy Durán Cervantes, Vice Minister of MSME and Industry, stated that this capital injection will strengthen regional production chains and generate economic value through local talent.
