Cussanio Day Center to pivot focus toward youth mental health
The Cussanio Day Center in Fossano, Italy, will undergo a reorganization to focus on younger patients, specifically those aged 15 to 25. Francesco Risso, director of the inter-agency Mental Health Department, clarified that the facility will not close but will instead integrate into a rehabilitative and psychological pathway designed to support early-onset mental disorders and facilitate social and professional reintegration.
Patients with more complex clinical needs will continue to receive care at both Cussanio and 'Casa Azzurra,' a facility used by the DIAPSI association. The multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists and psychologists, will work in coordination with the 'Cantiere Adolescenti' project. Meanwhile, the community and Day Center in Ceva will be designated for older patients requiring different clinical contexts.
Local councilor Matteo Blengino expressed satisfaction with the decision to maintain services, noting that the continuity provides essential support for local families. Blengino indicated that the Social Commission will continue to monitor developments to ensure the protection of services for vulnerable populations.
