Customs and police inspect 38 vessels on Lake Ohrid
The Customs Administration of North Macedonia, in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, conducted inspections of 38 vessels on Lake Ohrid. The operation focused on verifying the customs status of the watercraft and the credentials of their operators.
Authorities are specifically targeting vessels brought into the country under temporary import regimes. According to regulations, such vessels must be re-exported within a legally defined period; if they remain in the country beyond that timeframe, owners must regularize their status and pay the required import duties.
Officials reported that the intensified controls are already yielding results, noting an increase in the payment of import duties for vessels previously under temporary import status. Mobile teams plan to continue these heightened inspections, with authorities warning that violations may result in fines or the seizure of the vessels.
