Regional drug seizures reported in Philippines, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Kuwait

Law enforcement agencies across several Asian nations have reported significant narcotics seizures. In the Philippines, the Bureau of Customs at Ninoy Aquino International Airport intercepted approximately P18.679 million worth of suspected high-grade marijuana, or ‘kush,’ from the luggage of three passengers arriving from Bangkok.

In the Maldives, Customs officials at Gan International Airport seized over 3.3 kilograms of cannabis from the luggage of two Indian passengers. This operation led to the arrest of two Indian nationals and one Maldivian citizen.

Sri Lankan authorities have also conducted major operations, including a raid in Piliyandala that resulted in the arrest of three suspects with over 17 kilograms of heroin and ‘ICE’ narcotics, as well as a separate large-scale interception of 44 kilograms of hashish and 13 kilograms of cocaine destined for the country.

In Kuwait, the General Department of Narcotics Control seized 47 kilograms of crystal meth and 45 liters of related chemicals at the Abdali border. The operation resulted in the arrest of a man returning from Iraq, identified as a key player in a major drug syndicate.
