Customs electronic payments become mandatory on October 1

Starting October 1, 2026, electronic payment for customs obligations will become mandatory across the national territory. This measure is part of a broader modernization and digitalization process of customs services.

Under the new regulations, paper deposit slips will no longer be accepted at customs counters for the release of goods. Payments must be made exclusively through electronic channels provided by participating banking institutions, such as mobile or internet banking. To complete a transaction, importers or their representatives must use the 20-digit reference code found on the Liquidation Bulletin and enter the exact amount corresponding to the customs clearance.

The General Customs Authority (AGA) advises all stakeholders, including importers and clearing agents, to verify all data, specifically the value and payment reference, before finalizing operations. The transition aims to reduce manual procedures and increase the speed, security, and transparency of the customs clearance process.
