Customs officer dies in Cross River road accident

A 54-year-old Nigeria Customs Service officer, Etteng Ise, died following a single-vehicle accident on the Ikom-Calabar Highway in Cross River State. The incident occurred at approximately 2:56 p.m. on Monday near Alesi Village in the Ikom Local Government Area.

According to the Cross River State Police Command, Ise, who was stationed at the Mfum Border, lost control of his vehicle while attempting to avoid a pothole. The vehicle veered off the road into the bush and struck a tree. Ise was transported to Holy Family Hospital in Ikom, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

The police command issued a statement expressing condolences to the deceased’s family and colleagues. Authorities also used the incident to urge motorists to exercise caution, avoid excessive speed, and remain vigilant regarding road conditions to prevent similar accidents.
