Customs official Budiman Bayu accused of receiving monthly bribes

During a corruption trial at the Jakarta Central District Court, witness Orlando Hamonangan, a former Customs Intelligence Section Head, testified regarding bribery involving Blue Ray Cargo leader John Field.

Hamonangan stated that Field provided bribes to various Customs officials, including defendant Budiman Bayu Prasojo. The witness testified that Field used specific codes, such as “BY” for Budiman, to mark envelopes containing the funds.

Further testimony revealed that Budiman allegedly received a monthly bribe of approximately 75 million Indonesian Rupiah, paid in Singapore Dollars (SGD). These payments were reportedly distributed regularly between August and January. Budiman is accused of receiving a total of 7.6 billion Rupiah in connection with his position as an Intelligence Section Head.
