Zamora police investigate four Romanians for aggravated theft

Four Romanian nationals are under investigation for aggravated theft following a routine police stop in the Spanish province of Zamora. The incident occurred on the CL-612 highway near Villalpando after officers observed the vehicle performing suspicious and hesitant maneuvers near a checkpoint.

Upon inspecting the vehicle, authorities discovered eight plastic bags in the trunk filled with burnt copper wire. Investigations revealed the wire had been cut and burned with a flame torch to remove the plastic insulation. While the occupants claimed the metal was surplus material from a construction site, they were unable to provide any documentation or proof of origin.

During the stop, police also determined that the driver had consumed illegal substances. Furthermore, database checks revealed that one of the passengers was wanted under three existing arrest warrants in Spain. One passenger was detained, and the vehicle was confiscated by authorities.
