Customs officials seize cocaine in France and drugs in Rodrigues

French customs officials intercepted 347 kilograms of cocaine on the A7 motorway in the Drôme region. The drugs, valued at approximately 13 million euros, were found concealed within the cargo of a foreign heavy goods vehicle. A Dutch national in his 40s, who was driving the truck, has been taken into custody. The investigation into this international trafficking operation has been assigned to the Grenoble research section under the authority of the Valence prosecutor.

In a separate operation in Rodrigues, the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) seized 761 grams of suspected cannabis and 60 pregabalin capsules. The seizure occurred at the Port-Mathurin Container Park following the arrival of three boxes shipped from Mauritius. A 49-year-old man, Jean Lino Speville, was arrested at Plaine-Corail airport after identifying the packages and admitting to placing them in a container in Mauritius.
