Custoza White Wine Gains Spotlight Near Lake Garda

Italian wine experts highlight the Custoza designation as a fresh, easy‑drinking white wine that reflects the terroir of the Lake Garda area. Roberta Bricolo, president of the Consorzio di tutela del Custoza, notes that the blend, required to contain at least 70 % of varieties such as Garganega, Trebbianello, Bianca Fernanda and Trebbiano Toscano, is promoted through events that connect the wine with everyday life.

Guides to pairing lake‑caught fish with local whites advise choosing wines with bright acidity, moderate alcohol and clean fruit notes. In northern Italian lakes—from Garda to Trentino and the Veneto—regional whites, including Custoza, are recommended for fried, grilled or lightly sauced fish dishes, emphasizing freshness and mineral character.

The production area covers nine municipalities in the Basso Garda region, with roughly 1,400 hectares of vineyards yielding about 11 million bottles annually. The consortium’s 2026‑2027 campaign uses the slogan “I Lake It” to boost enotourism and encourage consumers to enjoy the wine in everyday settings.
