CVS Pharmacy recalls Clear Eyes eye drops over sterility concerns
CVS Pharmacy has issued a nationwide recall for certain bottles of Clear Eyes Redness Relief Lubricant Eye Drops due to concerns regarding sterility assurance. The recall was initiated by Medtech, a supplier for CVS, after the company could not confirm the sterility of specific 0.5 fluid ounce bottles.
The affected products include 15 separate lot codes with expiration dates ranging from July 2027 through November 2027. Specific lot numbers include RL25G02, RL25G03, RL25G04, RL25H02, RL25H03, RL25H04, RL25K01, RL25K02, RL25K03, RL25K04, RL25M01, RL25M02, RL25M03, RL25M04, RL25N01, RL25N02, and RL25N04.
Health authorities warn that non-sterile eye drops can introduce bacteria directly into the eye, potentially leading to serious complications such as corneal ulcers, infections, vision loss, or blindness. Consumers holding affected bottles are urged to stop using the product immediately and return it to the CVS pharmacy where it was purchased for a full refund with a receipt.
