Cwmbran man, 102, dies following alleged pub assault
Philip Ormerod, a 102-year-old man from Cwmbran, has died in the hospital following an alleged assault at The Crow’s Nest pub in South Wales. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 1, at approximately 10:25 pm.
Witness accounts suggest Mr. Ormerod, a regular at the establishment, approached the stage to ask for the music volume to be lowered. It is alleged he was pushed, causing him to fall from the stage and sustain a broken hip.
Gwent Police have arrested a 56-year-old man from Llanelli on suspicion of section 20 assault. The suspect has been released under investigation as authorities continue their inquiries. DCI Shelley Comley has urged the public to avoid speculative online commentary to respect the family of the deceased during the active criminal investigation.
