CXMT announces breakthrough in memory chip technology
Chinese memory chip manufacturer CXMT has announced a technological breakthrough with the development of a new 4F² design. According to CXMT President Cao Kanyu, the company plans to introduce this new chip type, intended for data center servers, before the end of the year.
If confirmed, this advancement would mean CXMT has reached a milestone that competitors such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have been pursuing for years. This development comes despite US sanctions that restrict Chinese firms from accessing advanced tools from companies like ASML.
The announcement has already impacted global markets, contributing to a decline in semiconductor stocks. Shares of Samsung and SK Hynix fell by more than 7% in South Korea, while Micron Technology saw a 4% decrease following the news.
