Cyan Worlds unveils shelved Myst prototype and announces new early‑development game
Cyan Worlds revealed a previously unseen prototype for a new Myst title, codenamed Project Anglerfish, during its State of the Union presentation at the Mysterium fan convention. The prototype, developed between 2024 and 2025, was pitched to publishers but failed to secure funding and was subsequently shelved. Cyan released the teaser trailer publicly as part of a "Paths Not (yet) Taken" segment that also highlighted other unreleased concepts.
The studio also confirmed that a different Myst‑universe game, codenamed Mudfish, is now in early development, though no release window or platform details were provided. In addition, Cyan announced physical editions of its Myst and Riven remakes for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC, and deluxe reissues of three tie‑in novels: The Book of Atrus, The Book of Ti'ana and The Book of D'ni. Founder Rand Miller will attend the 2027 Mysterium event in Spokane for the studio’s 40th anniversary.
