Cyanobacteria alert issued for 17 Buenos Aires municipalities

An orange alert has been issued for the presence of cyanobacteria in 17 municipalities across the province of Buenos Aires. This alert level indicates a medium risk, prompting the implementation of sanitary flags in affected areas.

In the Fourth Electoral Section, five specific districts—Alberti, Chacabuco, General Pinto, Junín, and Trenque Lauquen—are currently under the orange alert. Authorities recommend that the public avoid entering the water and advise consulting lifeguards or local officials regarding any concerns.

The monitoring is conducted through the Cyanosemáforo, a tool managed by the Subsecretariat of Water Resources of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services. The system utilizes municipal reports combined with satellite monitoring from the Water Authority (ADA) to detect algae blooms and provide early warnings for the 51 participating municipalities.
