Cyber Formula anime celebrates 35th anniversary with new short film

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Cyber Formula anime series, Sunrise has announced a theatrical release scheduled for February 19, 2027. The event will feature a simultaneous screening of two projects: an HD remastered “MOVIE EDITION” of the TV series compilation, ‘New Century GPX Cyber Formula EARLYDAYS RENEWAL’, and a new short anime titled ‘New Century GPX Cyber Formula ASURADA’.

The new short anime, ‘ASURADA’, is positioned as a direct sequel to the 1998 OVA ‘New Century GPX Cyber Formula SIN’. It will be directed and written by Mitsuo Fukuda and will feature new cyber machine designs by Shoji Kawamori, including the ‘Zenith Asurada AKF-S0/G’ and the ‘Hou-Ouga AA-1’.

In addition to the theatrical release, anniversary celebrations include a collaboration cafe in Akihabara and a virtual exhibition within VRChat’s ‘Anique Museum’ planned for January 2027. Advance movie tickets are currently available for purchase.
