Romania denies sending combat troops to Ukraine

The Romanian Presidential Administration has issued a formal denial regarding online rumors suggesting the country will send combat troops to Ukraine. Officials characterized these claims as “alarming manipulation” intended to create the false impression that Romania is being drawn into the conflict.

Instead, the President has requested parliamentary approval for a maximum of 20 Romanian military personnel to participate in the Multinational Operational Headquarters. This personnel will be limited to staff roles focused exclusively on planning, command, and coordination, rather than active combat operations.

The headquarters operates on a rotational basis and is located in France and the United Kingdom, thousands of kilometers away from the front lines. Romania’s involvement is part of the ‘Coalition of the Willing,’ which aims to establish political and legal security guarantees for Ukraine following any potential ceasefire agreement to ensure regional stability.
