Cyber Threats Drive New Data Resilience Solutions for Businesses
Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs), using tactics such as phishing, business‑email compromise, malware, ransomware, weak passwords, outdated software and supply‑chain attacks. Experts warn that without stronger defenses, SMEs risk data breaches, financial loss and reputational damage.
In response, Veeam announced the general availability of Veeam Data Platform v13.1. The update adds support for six new hypervisor platforms, extends malware scanning to network‑attached storage, enhances cloud‑threat detection and provides deeper protection for enterprise applications such as EPIC EHR, Db2 and Oracle. "Cyber risk is dramatically escalating with rapid advancement in frontier models and self‑driving AI agents," said Rehan Jalil, President of Products and Technology at Veeam. The platform aims to reduce tool sprawl, improve recovery readiness and help organizations maintain business continuity after cyber disruptions.
