Cyberattack targets Romanian online retailer and payment systems

An online store, Scentoverse, managed by Nexus Retail SRL, has reported being a collateral victim of a coordinated cyberattack. The administrator, Raul Marian, stated that attackers used the platform to initiate over 300 orders in a very short period, with 50 transactions being processed using compromised credit card data.

According to the administrator, the attack was likely coordinated by AI, as the speed of the transactions made human intervention impossible. The fraudulent transactions utilized the Netopia payment processing platform. The company has communicated with Netopia to work toward recovering funds for affected customers and has stated it will bear the costs to ensure respect for the amounts involved.
