Cyberattacks increase in Greece and globally during July
Check Point Research reported an increase in cyberattacks globally and in Greece during July 2026. Globally, organizations faced an average of 2,336 cyberattacks per week, representing a 3% monthly increase and a 16% rise compared to July 2025.
In Greece, organizations experienced an average of 1,638 cyberattacks per week, a 5% increase on an annual basis. While this growth rate is lower than the 18% recorded across Europe, the data indicates sustained pressure on Greek businesses and organizations.
The threat landscape is characterized by multiple simultaneous pressures. Ransomware activity has accelerated significantly, and data exposure through Generative AI (GenAI) tools has emerged as a clear operational risk due to increased employee use of these tools in corporate environments. Omer Dembinsky, Data Research Manager at Check Point Research, noted that organizations require a security approach prioritizing prevention and the utilization of AI to protect networks, users, and AI workflows.
