Cyberbullying increases among female professionals in Mexico

Data from INEGI’s Cyberbullying Module (MOCIBA) indicates that 20.5% of internet users aged 12 and older in Mexico have experienced cyberbullying. Female professionals, particularly those in health and service sectors such as psychology, nutrition, and medicine, are increasingly vulnerable to digital violence.

In Veracruz, reports highlight a pattern where women promoting professional services via platforms like TikTok and WhatsApp face sexual harassment, identity theft, and sextortion. One recent case involved a psychologist receiving explicit unsolicited content after providing contact information for clinical appointments.

Statistics show that 37.2% of victims experience identity theft involving sexual insinuations or messages. Furthermore, 61% of victims are unable to identify their aggressors, as perpetrators frequently operate through anonymous or fake profiles.
