Cybercrime incidents in Uttar Pradesh lead to financial losses and police investigations
Law enforcement agencies in Uttar Pradesh are responding to separate cybercrime incidents involving significant financial losses. In Hapur, the Hafizpur police successfully recovered ₹53,500 for a victim who fell prey to a scam after clicking a suspicious link. The recovery was achieved through technical surveillance and rapid coordination with banking institutions.
In a separate and more severe incident in Agra, a businessman reported that cybercriminals allegedly hacked his mobile phone during a call from an unknown number. The attackers gained remote access to his device, allowing them to access confidential banking information and transfer ₹5.55 lakh from two different accounts. While police have successfully recovered ₹95,000 through immediate intervention, an investigation is ongoing to recover the remaining ₹4.60 lakh. Authorities are currently analyzing digital trails and call records to identify the perpetrators.
