Cyberleek leaker cashes out $250,000 in crypto following GTA 6 leaks
The individual or group known as ‘Cyberleek’, responsible for a series of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leaks, has reportedly cashed out significant profits from a related cryptocurrency token. The leaks, which began around August 18, were accompanied by watermarks and QR codes directing users to invest in the $CYBERLEEK memecoin on the Solana blockchain.
On-chain data indicates that the perpetrator collected approximately $250,000 through accumulated transaction fees rather than a direct sale of founder tokens. This exit occurred on Thursday, August 27, just hours before Rockstar Games released an official ‘Extended Look’ at the game on Netflix and YouTube. Following the movement of funds into various cyber wallets, the value of the $CYBERLEEK token plummeted.
To maintain investor trust and prevent a ‘rug pull’ perception during the campaign, the leaker reportedly burned 270 million reserve tokens. While the leaker framed the campaign as a protest against digital-only releases, analysts suggest the scheme was intentionally designed to maximize profits from trading volume generated by the leaks.
