Chile hosts CyberMonday 2026 amid cybersecurity and fraud warnings

CyberMonday 2026 in Chile is taking place from October 5 to October 7, featuring over 500 participating brands. Organized by the Santiago Chamber of Commerce, the event follows a 2025 edition that saw 4.4 million transactions and approximately US$450 million in sales.

Security and consumer rights are major focal points for this year's event. A Kaspersky study indicates that 87% of retail companies faced cybersecurity incidents in the past year, with phishing being the most reported threat. To combat fraud, the PDI (Investigative Police) and the Association of Retail Brands (MDR) have issued warnings against phishing, cloned websites, and fraudulent social media links, advising consumers to use only official channels.

Additionally, SERNAC (National Consumer Service) has launched digital inspections to ensure companies clearly communicate legal guarantee rights, including the six-month period for durable goods and the consumer's right to choose between repair, replacement, or refund. Experts recommend using price comparison tools like Knasta and SoloTodo to avoid 'inflated prices' and suggest planning budgets in advance to manage shipping costs and avoid impulsive purchases.
