Cyberpunk 2077 reaches highest Steam player count in three years

Cyberpunk 2077 has experienced a significant resurgence on Steam, reaching a peak of 162,291 concurrent players on October 24, 2026. This represents the highest level of activity on the platform since the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion in 2023.

The surge in player numbers coincides with several key factors: the release of the free Edgerunners 2 Update (version 2.5), the launch of the second season of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime on Netflix, and a 70% discount on the game in the Steam store.

The Edgerunners 2 Update introduces new gameplay features, such as the ability to dual-wield certain pistols and revolvers via the ‘Double Trouble’ perk, cyberware customization, and a new story mission titled ‘Clampdown’ that bridges the gap between the game and the anime series. While this peak is substantial, it remains below the game's all-time Steam record of over 1.05 million concurrent players set during its initial launch in 2020.
