Cybersecurity advancements focus on post-quantum cryptography
The Cyber Security Foundation has launched the Cryptography Study Center at the Italian Chamber of Deputies. The center aims to unite institutions, universities, and industry experts to address security transformations driven by artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and new digital systems. The initiative focuses on the need for post-quantum cryptography and the ability to certify the origin and integrity of data used by AI systems.
In a related technological development, Thales has introduced Luna 8, a next-generation hardware security module (HSM) designed to facilitate the transition to post-quantum cryptography. The product aims to mitigate ‘Harvest Now, Decrypt Later’ attacks, where encrypted data is stolen today to be decrypted once quantum computing becomes viable. According to the Thales Data Threat Report 2026, 59% of organizations are currently prototyping or evaluating post-quantum algorithms to prepare for the quantum era.
