Cybersecurity authorities in Namibia and Djibouti host incident response training

Cybersecurity authorities in Namibia and Djibouti are conducting specialized training sessions to enhance institutional readiness against digital threats.

In Namibia, the Namibia Cyber Security Incident Response Team (NAM-CSIRT), housed within the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN), held a masterclass in Ongwediva focused on cyber incident handling, response, and crisis communication. The program included tabletop exercises to simulate real-world scenarios for systems administrators, government officials, and private sector representatives. Officials emphasized that cybersecurity is a matter of national and economic security requiring coordination between technical, legal, and communication teams.

In Djibouti, the National Cybersecurity Authority organized an awareness workshop specifically for the economic sector, targeting banking institutions, the central bank, and mobile payment operators. The session addressed risks to financial systems, including improper password management, the use of pirated software, and fraudulent websites designed to steal sensitive data. The workshop highlighted the necessity of maintaining operational continuity and rapid recovery capabilities to prevent disruptions to the broader economy.
