Cybersecurity Division arrests TikTok ‘Mini-Marché SN’ fraud suspect
The Special Cybersecurity Division (DSC) has arrested the individual behind the TikTok account ‘Mini-Marché SN’ in Thiès following numerous reports of fraud. The suspect, identified as ‘Madame Thiam’, allegedly used the social media platform to advertise food packs containing essential goods such as rice, pasta, tomatoes, onions, fish, and shrimp at attractive prices.
Victims reported that after paying for orders via money transfers—with transaction amounts ranging from 5,000 to 80,000 CFA francs—the seller would immediately block their numbers and delete all communication. While the suspect admitted to being the account owner and claimed to have only nine victims, investigators have uncovered evidence of more than 80 transactions linked to one of the phone numbers involved.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to verify the total number of victims and the full amount of funds misappropriated. The suspect is also accused of using videos from other legitimate merchants to deceive potential buyers.
