Cybersecurity education expands in Colombia and Mexico

Colombia and Mexico are expanding technical training in cybersecurity through new educational initiatives.

In Colombia, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MinTIC) and ColCERT have launched ‘Ciberseguridad 360’. This free, 100% virtual program is designed for adults and public sector personnel. The 40-hour curriculum covers cryptography, digital forensics, web platform security, and penetration testing. The training utilizes technical laboratories and ‘Capture The Flag’ (CTF) dynamics to simulate real-time incident responses.

In Mexico, the Universidad Politécnica de Yucatán (UPY) has graduated its first generation of cybersecurity engineers from a public institution. The cohort of 22 students aims to address the growing demand for digital security specialists in the southeast region, reducing the need to import talent from other areas.
