Cybersecurity experts warn of rising global digital vulnerabilities
Cybersecurity experts are warning of a significant increase in global digital vulnerabilities, driven by rapid digitalization and the integration of artificial intelligence. Experts note that the speed of technological advancement is outpacing the ability of professionals to respond, necessitating machine-speed corrections that current systems are not prepared for.
Research from the University of Vaasa indicates that highly digitalized companies may face a higher risk of successful cyberattacks. A study of over 9,600 US public companies found that firms leading their competitors in digitalization were up to 10 percentage points more likely to be targeted. The study suggests that the risk stems not from technology itself, but from how digital tools are integrated into business models and processes.
In Argentina, incidents have already been reported affecting public institutions, banks, and healthcare centers. Globally, vulnerabilities in widely used technologies such as PHP, Node.js, Microsoft systems, and the Chrome browser pose significant risks to government, military, and financial platforms. Experts emphasize that cybersecurity must be treated as a strategic leadership priority rather than just an IT responsibility.
