Cybersecurity experts and authorities address rising fraud and scams
Authorities and cybersecurity experts are highlighting the increasing sophistication of fraud, particularly through the use of artificial intelligence. In Switzerland, the Chamber of Commerce of Ticino (Cc-Ti) held an event in Locarno to discuss how cybercriminals are moving beyond system breaches to target human trust. Tactics such as cloned voices, perfectly written phishing emails, and CEO fraud are becoming more difficult to detect. Data from the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (UFCS) and SECO indicates that one in three Swiss SMEs has already fallen victim to a cyberattack.
In Italy, local Carabinieri in Belpasso conducted a session for the University of the Third Age to educate elderly citizens on preventing scams. The initiative focused on providing practical tools to recognize suspicious behavior and protect vulnerable populations from common fraudulent schemes.
