European Cyber Resilience Act drives tighter security as threats rise globally

The European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) comes into force, obligating all manufacturers and integrators of digitally connected products sold in the EU to meet strict security standards. In an interview, Petr Kosek of 2N emphasized that the law forces firms to embed security from design through to updates, warning that compliance will be a lengthy and complex process for many.

Accenture Chile’s cybersecurity leadership warns that security can no longer be a peripheral IT function. Their Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2026 notes that only 36 % of leaders feel their AI capabilities outpace security, and 90 % lack the maturity to defend against AI‑enhanced attacks, making resilience a strategic business priority.

Experts also caution that sensationalist, click‑bait reporting on cyber incidents can erode public trust. Clear, authoritative communication—such as that provided by national cyber agencies—should replace vague or misleading headlines.

In Guatemala, analysts flagged a possible cyber‑threat to the Ministry of Health’s database. While the alleged attacker claims to have exfiltrated medical and civil‑registry records, officials have found no evidence of a breach and continue investigations.
