Cybersecurity firms advance post-quantum cryptography defenses
Major cybersecurity players are advancing defenses against the future threat of quantum computing through the implementation of post-quantum cryptography (PQC).
Akamai has announced the general availability of end-to-end PQC across its Enhanced TLS network. This deployment covers the entire transport journey, including client-to-edge, mid-tier, and origin segments. The move aims to mitigate “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks, where adversaries collect encrypted data today to decrypt it once cryptographically relevant quantum computers are developed.
In Japan, Cyber Security Cloud, Inc. has initiated technical verification for PQC integration. The company aims to apply these findings to its cloud-based Web Application Firewall (WAF), “Kogeki Shadan-kun.” Their research focuses on hybrid key agreement methods, compatibility with existing web environments, and the impact of PQC on communication performance to ensure long-term web security.
