Cybersecurity initiatives address business risk and industry integration
Cybersecurity is increasingly being recognized as a core business risk rather than a purely technical IT issue. Experts suggest that leadership must take responsibility for decisions regarding risk acceptance, investment, and partner trust, as cyber incidents can disrupt operations, expose data, and damage institutional trust more rapidly than many other managed risks.
In Canada, the Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst has launched programs to bridge the gap between cybersecurity innovators and end-users. The Cyber Challenge has supported 41 startups through product testing and commercialization, while the Cyber Integration for Business program has worked with hundreds of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to provide training and guidance on secure technology adoption. These initiatives, supported in part by the Government of Ontario and the Canadian Cyber Threat Exchange (CCTX), aim to help startups validate products and help businesses gain the confidence to evaluate new security solutions.
