Cybersecurity initiatives expand through academic and governmental partnerships

Educational and governmental institutions are expanding cybersecurity training and awareness initiatives. In Paraguay, the Universidad Internacional Tres Fronteras (UnInter), in collaboration with the Gobernación del Alto Paraná, hosted a master conference on cybersecurity and cybercrime threats. The event featured Diosnel Alarcón, head of the National Police's Specialized Department for Cybercrime Investigation, who provided tools for risk detection and prevention to an audience of legal, military, banking, and academic professionals.

In Costa Rica, the Universidad Nacional (UNA) has signed an agreement with the Cybersec Cluster to develop specialized talent in the field. A key component of this partnership is the creation of a ‘cyber range’ in Liberia. This controlled environment will allow students and professionals to face simulated cyberattacks to test their response capabilities in realistic conditions. The project is being driven by the Cybersecurity Research, Development, and Innovation Laboratory (LABCIBE-UNA).
