Cybersecurity risks for children linked to social media sharing

A recent incident in China highlights the severe security risks associated with parents sharing photos of their children on social media. A woman, identified as Xiao Quan, inadvertently exposed her son's full name and school through a photo posted online. This information allowed an ex-partner to track the child's schedule, leading to a kidnapping attempt and a ransom demand exceeding $4.6 million.

Separately, experts are addressing the influence of digital trends on children's behavior. Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tinh from Da Nang University noted that children often adopt viral songs or phrases from the internet even without direct access to platforms like TikTok. This phenomenon occurs as digital content permeates physical social environments through peers, family, and public spaces, making it difficult to regulate how digital culture affects young children.
