Cybersecurity risks rise from pirate sports streaming sites

Pirate streaming websites used to watch major sporting events, such as UEFA Champions League matches, pose significant cybersecurity risks to users. These unauthorized platforms often utilize invasive advertising, pop-ups, and fake links to distribute malware.

According to Interpol, these malicious programs can infect smart TVs, smartphones, computers, and external devices like TV Boxes or Chromecasts. Such infections can damage hardware, alter system settings, consume device resources, or block access to legitimate applications. Furthermore, these sites may attempt to steal personal information and passwords through deceptive registration requests and permission prompts.
