Cybersecurity shifts toward industrial resilience and talent demand

Industrial cybersecurity is shifting from a purely technical IT concern to a fundamental requirement for operational continuity and business resilience. Driven by regulatory frameworks such as the NIS2 Directive, organizations are being compelled to move beyond mere bureaucratic compliance toward active risk management and asset visibility. In industrial environments, protecting Operational Technology (OT) is critical to preventing production halts, economic losses, and infrastructure damage.

There is a significant demand for qualified personnel to address the growing threat landscape, which includes ransomware, phishing, and hybrid warfare targeting public administration, healthcare, and critical infrastructure. Experts from the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) emphasize that the sector requires a diverse range of professionals, including both technical specialists and humanists, to bridge the widening gap between the increasing number of attackers and the available pool of defenders.
