Cybersecurity teams adopt AI and new patching methods to manage rising CVE volumes

Cybersecurity teams are facing an increasing volume of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), with projections suggesting the number could exceed 60,000 by the end of 2026. This surge creates a significant operational challenge, as manual review processes struggle to keep pace with the speed at which hackers exploit newly disclosed vulnerabilities.

Security professionals often face a difficult cost-benefit calculation when addressing vulnerabilities. Upgrading software to patch a CVE can introduce operational risks, such as breaking internal API contracts or causing build script failures due to dependency changes. To address these gaps, Aikido is developing Aikido Libraries and Aikido Images to facilitate patching without the need for full migrations.

In response to the growing complexity of enterprise networks, Artificial Intelligence is being integrated into network operations (NetOps). Rather than replacing human engineers, AI is being used to perform modeling, correlation, and prioritization of data. This allows teams to move away from manual cross-referencing and instead receive prioritized insights and remediation recommendations to manage the expanding threat landscape.
