Cybersecurity threats rise as attackers impersonate Zoom and Outlook

Cybersecurity threats are rising as employees return to full work schedules following the summer period. Analysis from Kaspersky reveals a significant increase in phishing attempts that mimic popular professional tools. Between July 2025 and June 2026, Kaspersky identified approximately 4.78 million attack attempts using content related to widely used workplace platforms.

Zoom was the most frequently impersonated brand, accounting for over 2.6 million attempts, followed by Microsoft Outlook with over 1.5 million detections. Other platforms targeted include OneDrive, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Teams. These attacks often use fake video call invitations or malicious attachments disguised as corporate documents to exploit user trust.
